SCOPE & STANDARDS OF PRACTICE FOR CANNABIS NURSES |
The American Cannabis Nurses Association (ACNA) is pleased to release version 1.0 of Scope and Standards of Practice for Cannabis Nurses. The field of cannabis nursing is an emerging specialty in nursing, one which calls for a clear definition and domain of practice. This document follows the American Nurses Association (2015) Scope and Standards of Practice (third edition) and it is the first step toward ACNA’s goal of cannabis nursing being recognized as an official nursing specialty. Future steps include the development and addition of advanced practice nurse scope and standards, and consultation with the ANA regarding the nursing specialty recognition process. Eventually this work may lead to a clearly delineated board certification process for cannabis nursing.
