Get More Involved with ACNA

Are you ready to be part of the pioneering movement of cannabis nursing on a larger level? Join ACNA on one of our committees and contribute to the work of our volunteer organization! We need you to help grow ACNA, and fulfill our vision!

Benefits of service include:

  • Be recognized for serving on a national professional nursing organization committee.

You will also become better prepared to serve as board member or run for an ACNA office by first serving on a committee.

The ACNA Executive Committee and Board of Directors are calling for members to serve on the following standing committees from September 2018- December 2019. All committee members except for pre-licensure student opportunities must have current RN license in the state where they reside.

Conference Planning

(5 members)

To plan for an ACNA cannabis nursing conference.

Previous conference or event planning experience.

Ability to meet bi monthly or monthly via video conference. Meeting requirements may escalate over time.

Subcommittee or individual task completion.

Education and Research

(6 members)

Support curriculum development process.

Engage in research around cannabis knowledge. Refine, implement, and analyze budtender survey.

Research and develop cannabis-nursing-related white papers.

Support membership committee with webinar offerings.

Support conference committee.

Current nursing license.

Preferred: MSN or PhD degree or currently enrolled in graduate nursing (or closely related field) program.

Previous curriculum development experience and/or research experience.

Meeting 1-2 times/ month via zoom video conference.

Monthly reports to Executive Committee

Membership

(6 members)

Grow membership numbers.

Foster meetups.

Implement chapters.

Improve benefits.

Service begins January 2019

Previous organizational membership service experience.

Ability to meet bi monthly or monthly via video conference. Meeting requirements may escalate over time.

Chair regularly reports to Executive Committee.

Subcommittee or individual task completion.

Student Committee and Student Representative

(10 members)

To engage students on various projects.

To provide support for students interested in cannabis nursing.

To develop student lead initiatives.

Currently enrolled in an ASN, BSN, MSN, DNP, PhD, or EdD program.

Attend monthly meetings via video conference.

Chair regularly reports to Executive Committee.

Also accepting applications for Student Board of Directors Member.This student should be able to demonstrate previous service and outline specific goals of serving on the board and committee.

Social Media

(3-4 members)

To update social media accounts on a regular basis (3-5 days/ week).

To enhance membership benefits and gain new members.

Works with Communications committee on newsletter.

Experience with social media platforms including facebook, twitter, instagram, snapchat, etc.

Ability to differentiate between medical/science based postings vs “popular” content, with the goal to keep our social media profile professional and clinically-focused.

Willingness to post to these platforms 3-5 times/ week, monitor responses, reply to messages or inquiries.

Works with executive committee on newsletter.

Ability to work with other committee members in dividing workload. Strong written communication skills.

Communications

(6 members)


Regular communication with membership.

Quarterly newsletter outlines with content presented to executive committee.

Develops member recognition process.

Email blasts to keep membership involved and notify of events.

Develop membership materials: works closely with membership committee.

Strong written communication skills. Experience in publishing, mar/com a plus.

Ability to learn email software.

Ability to respond to member queries/concerns in a timely manner.


Meets on a monthly basis; chair reports to executive committee monthly.
